TECHNOLOGY TO EDUCATE

TTE was created based on a multi-sectoral alliance that shared the same vision with Funsepa: to improve the quality of education for children in Guatemala. Private sector companies, government entities, foundations and international organizations participate in this alliance.

Its objective is to establish a self-sustainable program that is capable of continuously providing refurbished computers to all public schools in the country.

In Funsepa we transform waste into opportunities!

Refurbishing

Center

We accept all kinds of electronic equipment. All donations are classified for repair. Our refurbishing center team uses donations to produce functional – good-as-new- computers suitable for delivery in public schools throughout the country. These computers are delivered and installed at no cost to public schools.

WE PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT

The computers we deliver have educational resources that have been previously curated by area and grade by our expert specialilst in education. We include materials relevant in the Guatemalan National Base Curriculum established by the Ministry of Education. These installed educational resources support both teachers and students in the teaching-learning process.

In 2012, Funsepa formed a strategic partnership with the Heineman Medical Research Foundation and Atrium Health (formerly the North Carolina Health System), and Chiquita Banana in North Carolina. Our partners at the Heineman Foundation collect hospital equipment from Atrium Health, to be transferred to Guatemala from Charlote, NC. Chiquita Banana, donates space in their containers and ships to be able to move the equipment from the United States  to Guatemala.

As part of the TTE philosophy, we have integrated the labor insertion component into our personnel hiring practices; since we give the opportunity to young people who have collaborated as interns to work in our Refurbishing Center.

We work with the support of the Rotary Club to internalize the donations of equipment to the country.

 EVERY DONATION MATTERS
